Oral Health Appointments

Age One Dental Visit

Our practice firmly goes along with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Academy of Pediatrics suggestion that children should be seeing a dentist by the time they have had their first birthday. We believe it is important for the child, as well as the parent, to initiate a dental home, discuss effective ways to prevent tooth decay, and establish healthy dietary and oral hygiene habits.

Initial Exams

All patients will receive a review of dental/medical history, soft tissue examination, polishing, scaling, necessary radiographs (x-rays), fluoride treatment, oral hygiene instruction, dental development evaluation, dietary and nutritional counseling, and patient/parent education with a review of the dentist’s treatment plan. For the comfort of our patients, our initial exams also include an introduction to our staff and dentist.

Check-up Appointments

Regular visits to our office play an essential and vital role to maintaining the health of your children’s teeth. Our check-up appointments include the same services as mentioned in the initial exam, with the exception of providing an opportunity to review the tools that will be needed to stay cavity-free.

Dental Treatment for Special Needs Patients

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry determines persons with special health care needs as individuals who “have a physical, developmental, mental, sensory, behavioral, cognitive, or emotional impairment or limiting condition that requires medical management, health care intervention, and/or use of specialized services or programs.” The condition can either be developmental or acquired and may cause restrictions in implementing daily self-maintenance activities or significant restraints in a major life activity. Care for the health of special needs patients goes far above and beyond the listed requirements. It also requires increased awareness and attention, specialized knowledge, and accommodation.

Each and every one of our pediatric dentists are qualified in the treatment for special health care tactics and needs. We realize that oral diseases of all sorts can have a destructive and direct influence on the health of those with certain systemic health problems and conditions. For this purpose, our establishment will assist you in managing your child with special health care needs by taking advantage of known preventive and restorative techniques. We are truly devoted to helping your family succeed in attaining dental health so your child can develop to their full potential and ability.
